The short version: the app keeps your records on your phone. We don't show ads, we don't use analytics or tracking tools, and there's no account. The details are below.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter stays on your device: each cigarette you log and when, your goal and daily limits, pack size and price, the cigarette types you chose, and anything you add to your profile (nickname, picture, age range). It is kept in the app's storage on your phone, and in your phone's own backups if you use them.
We can't see any of it. You can export it as a CSV file or delete all of it in Settings at any time. Deleting the app deletes it too.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no account and no ads, and it contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. It doesn't use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
If you've agreed in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may pass us crash reports and performance figures. These don't identify you, and we only use them to fix problems.
Purchases
Membership is bought through the App Store or Google Play. They take the payment; we never see your card or billing details. The app checks your purchase on the device itself.
Sync for members, when you turn it on
Syncing between devices is planned for members. It stays off unless you turn it on. This is how it will work:
- The app syncs through our own server, which runs on Cloudflare. To sign you in, it keeps only the anonymous identifier that Sign in with Apple or Google gives us, never your email address or name. It stores your membership status and the records you sync.
- We don't store your IP address, device model or push tokens, and our logs contain neither these nor your records. Cloudflare handles your IP address briefly to deliver the connection and protect the service.
- You can delete your synced data and your sync account from inside the app. Turning sync off stops all uploads.
This website
This site has no analytics, ads or tracking. If you pick a language, it remembers your choice in a small cookie called “lang”; that is the only cookie. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
Children
1LessBottle is meant for adults. It is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
